About

Maya Schwartz is a dancer, choreographer, teacher of release technique, contact improvisation, and yoga, as well as a therapist practicing the Ilan Lev method.

Originally from Ukraine and Israel Palestine, Maya has collaborated with choreographers such as Roni Chadash, Gil Kerer, Lilach Pnina Livne, Maya Brinner, Shani Bar Dimri, Sally Ann Friedland, Michal Ben Lior, and Hai Cohen. She also worked with the Vertigo Dance Company on the production The Birth of the Phoenix.

Maya has developed her own choreographic works, including Primal Feelings, a duet with Judi Adini; Alata, a duet with Shachar Dolinski; and several solo pieces: NoThing, Growing Pains, and дом, which have premiered at various festivals.

Maya has taught contact improvisation and floor work at the Kolban Dance School, Studio Naim, Studio Bona, Hakvutza-Tel Aviv, the Academy for Dance and Music in Jerusalem,Solseed Studio Pisac,Peru, the Dance Days Chania Festival in Greece, and the Prisma Festival in Panama.

She also taught improvisation for children in the project Boogie Woogie, led by Renana Raz and Ilayah Shalit, and organized workshops for Yaniv Minzter, Samuel Minguillon, Roni Chadash, Ilayah Shalit, and Niv Melamed. Additionally, Maya was part of the organizing team for the Israeli CI Camps between 2023 and 2024.

Maya created Deep into You, a series of retreats and workshops that explore art and movement in nature, which have taken place in Israel-Palestine, Sinai, Portugal and Peru
